WalkStrat Docs
Quick Start
From a fresh strategy to Deployment Code, in nine steps.
For a strategy you have never run through the app before:
- Settings — set Working Folder and anything else, select strategy, fill input ranges and click Save Settings.
- Strategy Code — paste raw EasyLanguage, generate optimized code, compile in the TradeStation IDE.
- Optimization → Feasibility — quick sanity check (seconds, not hours).
- Optimization → Optimization — full parameter sweep, then Generate Trades.
- Trades Generator — wait for all rows to show Complete.
- WFO Config → Select Symbol/Interval → pick a green cell → Add to WFO.
- Optimization → Walk-Forward — runs the real walk-forward: IS optimization per segment, then OOS runs.
- Validation → Select WFO Run → review equity comparison and metrics.
- Deployment Code — load the Strategy Code output, set the selected Input defaults, then compile and run the generated EasyLanguage code in TradeStation.
Detour into Candidates at any point after trades files exist for a closer look at individual parameter sets — it has no gate and no forward/back button, so visit it whenever you like.
Use the >> button (bottom-right of most tabs) to step forward without clicking the tab bar. Use << to step back.
